As so many of my rides begin, it was a late start.  I might have had too much fun the night before.  I had no cash for the tolls.  And I managed to get lost.  Twice.

But it was worth every miserable moment, because any day on the bike is a very good day.

And when you will be spending that day at the New Jersey Motorsports Park for the final AMA road races of the season, where the championship winner for the American SuperBike class during the final race changed as often as the leader?

Tyler O'Hara's XR1200; now that is a Harley I'd be happy to ride!

The Daytona Sportbikes; Danny Eslick won the championship, but Josh Herrin stole the race

Bostrom! Hayes! Hayden!  Oh, my!

That, my friends, is an outstanding day.

Life is good, and sometimes, its even better.

Did I mention I met Erik Buell?  My hero!

Something Wicked This Way Comes

Mid-Ohio was the site of a first sighting.  Or two.

Not from Japan.  But from the U.S. and the Continent, via Austria.

Great news for racing and race fans, but for other racing teams, the arrival of two new monsters to AMA Superbike roadracing means dark clouds on the horizon.

Something wicked has arrived.

Making its debut in the AMA Superbike Roadracing Championship Series, KTM's vicious 1198 RC8 R racing spec machine:

Representing Erik Buell Racing, the fierce EBR 1190RS:

Both broke into the top 10 their first weekend out:

Congrats to the riders and teams.  I'm sure we'll see even more exciting racing in two weeks at Leguna Seca!

Cheers!
