MV Agusta brings back the Italian Elefant?

Once upon a time, there was an Elefant.

Created by Caviga, this Elefant originated in Italy.  But it freely roamed the streets, countryside, and trails of all Europe.  It was even rumored that a few made the trip across the pond and were living in the United States.

But just as other anachronistic pachyderms have fallen by the wayside, passed by, and over, for new, swifter, smarter, and more reliable models, the Caviga Elefant rode in to extinction, taking its place as just another footnote in moto history and lore.

Until now.

In an interview with Australian Motorcycle News, MV Agusta boss, Massimo Bordi, confirmed that MV will be developing not only its own adventure bike, but its very own Elephant.

A formidable beast with a purpose-built 1200cc v-twin engine, the Elephant will be born ready to take on Ducati's Multistrada, BMW, KTM, and newest entrant to the adventure crowd, Triumph.

The company hopes that the MV Elephant will eventually become its own species within MV Agusta, much as the Monster owns its own niche within Ducati.

Cheers!
